Case Dropped Against Man Accused of Having Sex With Dog

Armand Pacher had been accused of abusing Great Dane named Christie Brinkley

An Aventura man who was accused of having sex with his Great Dane named Christie Brinkley won't face charges after prosecutors dropped their animal cruelty case against him Wednesday.

But Armand Pacher, 65 says his life is ruined after stories of his arrest hit the internet, the Miami Herald reported.

"This is not an occasion of joy for me. Although the prosecution has finally decided to say `just kidding, never mind,' my life has been fully destroyed,'' Pacher said after Wednesday's decision.

Pacher's ordeal began last July, after Pacher made comments over the phone to his veterinarian that he'd been having sex with the dog.

"She doesn't seem to enjoy it as much when we have sex," Pacher allegedly said when asked about Christie Brinkley's overall health. "Maybe it's because I haven't been as energetic lately and that's why she's not enjoying it."

Christie Brinkley was later examined by forensic veterinarian Dr. melinda Merck, who concluded that the dog showed signs of abuse and had what she said was human sperm in her urine.

Pacher later claimed he was joking when he made the comments. And his attorney found experts who said Merck's findings were bogus.

The sample from the dog was later found to be too small for a forensic lab to confirm, though a director of investigations with the Oregon Humane Society agreed with Merck's findings that the sperm was likely human.

Prosecutors laid no blame for the case's dismantling on Merck, a prominent forensic vet who's worked on the Michael Vick dogfighting case and South Florida cat killer case.

"The state's decision to [drop] the case is based upon the lack of presently available physical evidence, and not on any concerns that Dr. Melinda Merck was either incorrect or exploitative," Assistant State Attorney Michael Von Zamft wrote.

Pacher had been facing five years in prison on third-degree felony animal cruelty charges.
