Cat-astrophe! 85 Felines Found in Florida Home

No arrests after load of kitties are found in Port St. Lucie home

If you said it was raining cats and dogs at this home in Port St. Lucie, you'd be about half right.

Police found 85 -- yes, 85 -- cats living in deplorable conditions in a house there, according to WPTV.

Officers suited up in slippers and protective masks to wade through the flea and feces-covered home yesterday to recover the kitties that were found in just about every crevice of the single family home.

"It's inhumane," said neighbor Gary Tubek. "One or two cats, okay, a dog maybe? But to have that many cats is...I don't know."

Police could only find 75 cats at first, but after further discovery ten more were found.

The house was being occupied by four adults, and since no children were in the house, there was no danger and no arrests.

The cats were taken away in several cages, taken to the Humane Society for evaluation. The city will be conducting an animal abuse investigation.
