Caught on Camera: Subway Manager, Employee Brawl

A heated argument between two Subway Restaurant employees took a dangerous turn as punches began to fly and so did a piece of equipment, and it was all caught on camera.

A verbal argument quickly turned physical at the busy food court at Sawgrass Mills in Sunrise, and police said the weapon of choice was a pan used to toast the sandwiches.

According to the police report, the two women are identified as Subway employee Shantel McKenzie and her manager Gianna Baffi. McKenzie is seen in the video holding a flat metal pan and swinging it at her manager.

NBC 6 reporter, Laura Rodriguez asked the now former Subway employee what sparked the fight.

"She was being disrespectful. I've worked at multiple places and I've worked at multiple Subways and I've never been disrespected like that before," McKenzie said.

Police said the manager ended up with a cut on her neck from the pan during the fight on May 1st. McKenzie was subsequently arrested for aggravated battery.

"Well I was defending myself, okay?" McKenzie added.

As the argument escalated more and more shoppers made their way toward the commotion. Aside from serving jail time, McKenzie also lost her job. "It was a mistake I didn't mean for it to happen the way it did."

NBC 6 reached out to subway to see if the manager was fired, but they have not responded. We also tried to reach the manager, but were unable to reach her.
