Beginning at 10 p.m. on Sunday, the westbound on-ramp to I-595 from westbound SR 84 Marina Mile will permanently close. To access I-595, drivers will have to continue down westbound SR 84 to the on-ramp west of Davie Road.
Crews will open a new ramp to allow drivers getting off the Florida Turnpike to directly access SR 84 and Davie Road without merging with I-595 traffic.
Another noticeable change will be a new lane on WB SR 84 approaching Davie Road. Drivers will hit a signal at the intersection.
Officials say these changes are necessary to construct three reversible lanes in the median of I-595 that will eventually carry traffic eastbound in the morning and westbound in the afternoon.The changes are scheduled to take place over the next few months.
On Monday, though, HOV restrictions on I-95 will be lifted from Miami Gardens Drive in Dade County to Sunrise Boulevard in Broward Counties. Crews are converting the lanes to two express lanes in both directions.
