A man who allegedly threatened to "blow up" his ex-girlfriend's children's schools was taken into custody Thursday after leading police on a chase through north Miami-Dade County.
Authorities were searching for William Richard, 33, all day and found him near Florida Memorial College. As they tried to take him into custody, he fled, police said.
The suspect led a brief chase on side streets in north Miami-Dade County before crashing in the area of NW 153rd Street and 6th Avenue. He was handcuffed at the scene.
A woman told police that her ex-boyfriend passed by her house and threatened to blow up Central High School and Lakeview Elementary School -- the two schools her children attend, said Opa-Locka police chief James Dobson.
Richard faces numerous charges, including making a false report about placing a bomb, resisting an officer and making a threatening phone call, online jail records show. Attorney information was not available.
