Chicken Whisperer a Good Egg

Poultry pal talks to and about his fowl friends

Andy Schneider is to chickens what Robert Redford was to horses.

"I am known as the chicken whisperer," Schneider says. "And when the pens are kept clean the birds are not smelly."

Schneider, based in Atlanta, hosts a nationally sydicated raio show about farming chickens and travels the country trying to help people become one with their poultry.

He's curently on a promotional tour through Florida, and he stopped in Loxahatchee where chicken owner Carol King sang his praises.

"You keep chickens in your yard just to have this connection with where your food comes from," King said.

Schneider thinks farming chickens is especially important in these tough times, not just for eggs but for fertilizer and insect control.

And if you want one for a pet, he claims they're cleaner than a dog.

"I have more dog waste in my front yard from other neighbors dogs than they ever have chicken waste from my chickens in their yards," Schneider told WPTV.
