Van Located After Child Hurt Sunday in Miramar Hit And Run Crash

What to Know

  • Van involved in crash located Monday
  • Owner of van has come forward, no arrests made
  • Child remains in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries

Miramar Police found the van Monday involved in a hit and run that injured a 7-year-old child. Detectives say the owner of the van came forward, but no arrests have been made.

According to officials, the incident took place shortly before 11:30 AM Sunday when Little Jayden was riding his bicycle near Tropicana Street and Desoto Drive. The van, which had damage to the right front hood, continued going east on Tropicana St. before turning north onto Desoto Dr. and eventually turning onto Pembroke Rd.

The child's mother rushed home from work after some called her. She was shocked to find her son nearly lifeless. "I almost came home to find my child dead," said mother Felissa McFarlane.

Jayden was transported to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, but his injuries are not considered life threatening.

McFarlane lashed out at the driver, saying "are you even human? That's uncalled for. You could have stopped."

Neighbors can't believe this took place in their area - especially with a kid they see riding on his bike all the time through the area.

"Even if he hadn't hurt him, that's very wrong to hit a kid and not stop to render aid," Jose Marrero told NBC 6 through a translator.

The crash is still under investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call Miramar Police or Broward Crime Stoppers.
