Chris Bosh Says Miami Heat Doctors Told Him Career Was ‘Likely Over' After Second Blood Clot

With less than a week to go before the start of training camp for the 2016-17 season, Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh is revealing what team doctors told him after a second bout with blood clots: his career is likely over.

In the first installment of a new documentary series debuting Wednesday on Uninterrupted.com, Bosh spoke of feeling as if the team had written him off following his latest fight with clots in his leg.

Bosh has said he will continue with plans to play again.

"I know inside me I have a lot of talent and a lot of ability. I have it. I know I have it,” Bosh said. "It wasn't a matter of if I play again; it was when. So we took the bull by the horns."

The film, entitled "Rebuilt," is being released in parts on the website. Bosh said last week that he still has not been medically cleared by the team, but believes he has found a way to work with his medication that would allow him to play.

Bosh also hosted a Facebook Live session Wednesday, where he talked more about his medical condition and his future with the Heat.

"We are going to have a great season, I can't wait to get back out there on the court and really just play basketball," he said.

Bosh interacted with fans, answered their questions live and looked toward the future, one he says that includes him in the NBA.

"I am just hoping that this fire goes out very soon and I can kind of emerge from it brand-new but yeah, I mean tough times are hard," he said.

At the same time, the Heat have not commented on the 13-year veteran's status with the team. Previously, it had been reported he would be invited to camp but still not cleared to play.

Bosh has had the last two seasons cut short due to blood clots being discovered in his leg. After a conflict between both sides over the player’s plans to return toward the end of last season, Bosh was ruled out under an agreement that would allow him to participate in training camp.

Bosh still has three years remaining on his current contract with the Heat, worth around $75 million total.
