Civilian Broward Sheriff's Office Deputy Faces Armed Sexual Battery, Other Charges: Authorities

Garrett Cunningham holds a civilian position and is not a BSO officer, the agency said

A civilian Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested in Port St. Lucie late Monday night on four warrants for charges that include two counts of armed sexual battery, authorities said.

Garrett Cunningham, 62, also faces one count each of armed kidnapping and aggravated assault on the warrant out of Broward County, his arrest affidavit said.

Cunningham holds a civilian position and is not a BSO officer, the BSO said. He usually works in the courtroom of Broward Circuit Judge Jeffrey Levenson in the county’s courthouse, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.

He was ordered held without bond in St. Lucie County and was being transferred into Broward County’s custody Tuesday afternoon, according to the newspaper.

It wasn’t immediately known whether Cunningham has an attorney.
