Classmate Said Girl Put in Dumpster had Past Signs of Abuse

The best friend of a Miami Beach girl who police said was hit in the head three times by her uncle before being ordered into a dumpster said it wasn’t the first time she had heard about possible abuse.

“I asked her what happened to your arm and then she’s like, ‘Oh somebody in my family cut me with a knife,” said the victim’s classmate.

In the video, which NBC 6 isn’t showing in its entirety, after the nine-year-old girl gets out of the trash bin, she is punched three times in the back of the head, allegedly by her uncle, Jesus Crys.

“It was shown how, he you know, was very badly treating her in ways that it’s just not human,” said Luanna Rios, whose daughter is the victim’s classmate. “I hope that she finds two great, loving parents that love her and taker her in and give her the love and care that she needs.”

Miami Beach Police said Crys, 30, and his niece were in an argument inside their apartment when the uncle took her outside at which point the alleged abuse is caught on video.

In court Thursday, a DCF investigator who interviewed the nine-year-old girl and her five-year-old brother said both told a similar story.

“The two children were playing patty cake and bubble gum. He was upset with the two children and he got a knife and stabbed the children,” the DCF worker told the court.

Police said Crys legally adopted the children in 2009. He’s no stranger to the law though as he’s faced a total of 13 different charges of the years ranging from burglary to possession of cocaine.
