Clean Up Underway After Tornado Touches Down

Residents of Tamarac talk about scary experience when tornado touched down Tuesday

A day after a tornado touched down in Tamarac, residents busied themselves with roof work and boarding up broken windows.

Lee Baldwin suffered the worst of it on her street.

The roof on her home caved in and Broward County officials deemed her house uninhabitable. She has been staying a nearby hotel thanks to a voucher from the Red Cross, but her stay ends Friday.

"I don't know what I am going to do," Baldwin said. "I am just happy to be alive."

Most of the damage in Tamarac was mild and tarps covered damaged rooftops as residents prepared for the coming rains.

Delores Dalberry was home when the tornado touched down.

"It was a very terrible experience. The house was shaking and things were flying around all over the place," she said. "It was very, very terrible....It was just a second."
