South Florida's Coastal Mayors Align for Beach Restoration Projects

The mayors of several of South Florida's coastal municipalities are aligning to urge the county, state and federal government to develop long-term strategies to combat beach erosion.

Each mayor signed a proclamation Thursday as a demonstration to each of their commitment to the Coastal Cities Alliance.

Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine, Key Biscayne Mayor Mayra Peña Lindsay, Bal Harbour Mayor Martin Packer, Surfside Mayor Daniel Dietch and Sunny Isles Beach Mayor George “Bud” Scholl all lent their signature to the proclamation.

The Miami Beach Resiliency Plan’s goal is to prepare the city for the short-term and long-term impacts of climate change and sea-level rise.
