Comeback Attempt Falls Short For Heat

The Heat cut into a 19-point deficit on Saturday but still fell to the Memphis Grizzlies

The Miami Heat fought back on Saturday but ultimately lost to the Memphis Grizzlies by a final score of 103-95.

Memphis held a 19-point advantage during the third quarter and Miami had that reduced to one at several points. The Heat were unable to tie the game or take the lead despite several opportunities to do so. The Grizzlies ended up holding the lead from start to finish in what was Miami's 11th loss at home in 17 tries.

Dwyane Wade had 25 points in the loss to go along with seven assists, three rebounds and four steals. Wade also picked up two blocks along the way. With Chris Bosh still out due to a calf injury, Wade remained the main scoring option for Miami and did all he could.

Hassan Whiteside made an impact in his 16 minutes as he tied a career-high with seven rebounds. The rookie was active on both sides of the ball and was a big reason for Miami's comeback attempt. Fouls continued to be a problem for the youngster however as Whiteside picked up five personals despite the short stay on the court.

Three-pointers continued to plague the Heat as the team shot 30% on the day. Several of those missed attempts came down the stretch when Miami was trying to cut into a four-point lead. Norris Cole was the biggest contributor to the missed treys as he went 1-6 himself.

Danny Granger gave the Heat 28 productive minutes off the bench. The veteran had 18 points and three rebounds. The 28 minutes were a season-high for Granger who has eclipsed 20 minutes in three straight games.

The Heat will wrap up the seven game homestand on Monday with a game against the Orlando Magic.
