Meline Matute said that at first she couldn’t believe what she was seeing and hearing – a completely naked man emerging from equipment at a North Miami Beach playground and exposing his genitals to her 3-year-old daughter.
He started running toward them, she said.
“He started saying to my little daughter, ‘Hi pretty girl, hi pretty girl,” and made a sexual reference, Matute said.
“I got scared because he went direct to my little girl, and then I start running,” she recalled.
They ran back to their home, and once there, the mother saw the man going by on a bicycle. A neighbor recognized him and police tracked him down, arresting Shane Shuyler, 40, and charging him with three counts of lewd or lascivious exhibition on a child and one count of lewd and lascivious conduct on a child, according to Miami-Dade Corrections online records.
He was booked Thursday and is being held on $15,000 bond, according to Miami-Dade Corrections.
Matute said police indicated to her that Shuyler might have been on some type of bath salts, a synthetic drug that has been getting a lot of attention lately.
Matute’s experience has had quite an impact on her daughter.
“My little girl now, she’s really scared to come here,” she said.
