When 58-year-old Gloria Vereen wants a smoke, it may be best to let her light up.
The Fort Pierce woman was arrested over the weekend at a Sonic restaurant after punching a police officer in the face over a cigarette following a tirade about the devil and the weather, according to WPTV.
Vereen was busted for felony battery and resisting an officer with violence after she lashed out on the fast food eatery's patio.
According to a police report, Vereen had been "sitting in the patio area for some time and speaking about strange subjects, such as Satan and atmospheric changes."
An officer approached Vereen, and she reached for a nearby suitcase. When the officer told her not to reach for the suitcase, she yelled out, "I want a cigarette!"
When the officer tried to move the suitcase out of Vereen's reach, she attacked him, punching him in the left eye and breaking his prescription glasses.
"I backed away but Mrs. Vereen continued to charge me with her arms flailing and scratching," the officer's report said.

Vereen was eventually subdued and arrested. Police were unsure if she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
