Cops Search For Ninja-Like Bandit Robbing Stores in South Florida

The suspect has robbed 12 stores so far

Authorities were searching for a masked man they believe could be responsible for as many as 12 store robberies throughout South Florida.

"This guy has no regard for anyone," said Michael Stein with the North Miami Beach Police.

With his masked face and quick moves, this costumed crook is known to law enforcement as the ninja. On May 12, surveillance video at a West Dixie Highway Kwik Stop captured the suspect putting a gun to a young woman's head. That frightening moment is one of many recorded on several stores' security cameras.

"He goes into gas stations. He goes into convenience stores. He's all through Dade and Broward County," Stein said.

The most recent heist, on Aug. 18 was at a Kwik Stop on Northeast 19th Avenue. He put down his gun to smash the register open and the clerk ran away. It turns out he'd been there before. On July 13, he first held up the store.

"He is getting more brazen. He, he's getting more violent and before he kills somebody or even jeopardizes an officer or himself, we'd like to put this to a stop," Stein said.
