‘Cover-Up Bandit' Wanted in South Florida Bank Robberies: FBI

The FBI is searching for a bank robbery suspect dubbed the "Cover-Up Bandit," who is wanted in connection to at least four South Florida bank robberies dating back to January.

Officials said the suspect, who earned his moniker for the way he disguises himself, robbed the same Wells Fargo Bank at 6245 North Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale on Jan. 16 and then again on Feb. 2, officials said. He also robbed a PNC Bank at 5017 West Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach on Feb. 16 and Bank United at 2500 North Federal Highway in Lighthouse Point on Feb. 22.

In at least one of the robberies, the thief implied he had a weapon, officials said.

FBI officials said the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. The FBI is working with the South Florida Violent Crime Task Force and police from Delray Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Lighthouse Point.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 754-703-2000.
