Credit Card Skimmer Found at on Pump at Gas Station in Palm Beach County

A credit card skimmer has been found at another South Florida gas station.

Police say the manager at a Mobile gas station in Boynton Beach, located at 4798 N. Congress Ave, found the device after noticing that the red security ticker had been tampered with while inspecting the pumps.

The inspection was prompted after a woman called the gas station’s manager to inform her of fraudulent charges on her credit card.

Nearly 130 skimmers have been found statewide through mid-April 2017, which is on pace to surpass last year’s total of 219 devices found on gas pumps, according to a recent NBC 6 Investigative report.

Thieves are now becoming more creative in retrieving credit card information from unsuspecting victims by using Bluetooth technology, without even having to open up machines.

Detectives are searching for more victims of credit card fraud, and urge them to call authorities at 561-732-8116.
