Crews Repairing Second Water Main Break in Miami Gardens Neighborhood

Crews were back at work Thursday morning trying to fix a second water main break in the past 24 hours in Miami Gardens.

The latest break happened in the backyard of a home on 191st Street hours after an 8-inch water main broke on Wednesday. The first break was fixed by around 7:45 p.m., but around 9 p.m., the same line suffered a second break.

Between 20 and 25 houses were affected by the earlier break that happened between Northwest 191st and 192nd Streets and Northwest 37th Court and Northwest 39th Avenue.

Entire back yards were left underwater and some homes here were also flooded. Neighbors had to take anything they could off their floors and place them at a higher level.

"Inside the house it covered my feet. Outside the house, past the ankle. In the backyard to my calves.” Lisa Sweeting said.

The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department said they would notify each homeowner affected by the break of a precautionary boil water notice.

It's unknown how long it will take to fix the second break.
