For a limited time, Zoo Miami will be home to the Crittercam.
Zoo Miami’s Ron Magill says kids will love the National Geographic exhibit – a chance to see the world through animal eyes.
“I think what the kids are really going to enjoy here first of all is the amount of visual stimulation, tremendous amount of video taken from Crittercam,” he said.
Crittercam focuses on animals including sea turtles, penguins, bears and lions.
“Being able to see this Crittercam on the backs of animals, on the collars of animals, you go into their private world and they’re acting naturally,” Magill said. “You’re seeing the things they naturally do without being altered by human presence and we’re learning a tremendous amount about that.”
It’s a very visual way of learning. Kids can look directly into the penguins’ camera, and then see themselves through the perspective of the flightless birds.

“I think it’s a very easy way to learn. Not only for the kids but for the adults,” she said. “You get to see it, you get to experience it a little bit.”
Magill says being associated and a partner with National Geographic gives the zoo a tremendous amount of credibility.
Crittercam, which is a 6,000-square-foot traveling exhibit, opened at Zoo Miami’s Dr. Wilde’s World on Friday and runs through May 5.
