Suspects Steal Woman's Belongings; Shoot Good Samaritan

A South Florida woman is thankful to be alive after being robbed at gunpoint outside of her home in Little Havana.

“They yanked my thicker chain and I tried to hit them and I screamed,” said Norma Rosell, the victim of the robbery.

Miami Police responded to the incident after 3 a.m. Saturday. The victim said she was walking from her car to her home on Southwest 10th Street after a night out celebrating her birthday when the incident happened.

Her longtime next door neighbor heard her scream for help and came outside, and then yelled at the two attackers.

“They have no boundaries. Just because my neighbor screamed, they shot at him. They could have killed him,” said Rosell.

The men ran away, firing shots. Besides the bullet that hit the neighbor, one hit his home and almost went through a window. Detectives took pictures of bullet casings on the sidewalk.

“It broke my heart to see him sitting there all full of blood,” said Rosell.

Rosell is now afraid of staying in her own home.

“It’s panic after you are assaulted and you’re not expecting it,” said Rosell.

Besides her chain, the two men ran off with her cell phone and purse. The crooks even used some of her credit cards.

Anyone with information on this incident is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
