Man Carjacked at Gunpoint in Dania Beach

A man visiting from Georgia said he was carjacked by a group armed with a rifle Wednesday morning in Dania Beach.

Ron Brown, who is in town from Atlanta, told NBC 6 he was "mad and aggravated" after the carjacking at around 11 a.m. near SE 10th Terrace off U.S. 1.

“You know it’s the holidays and crazy things happen. It’s not worth it, so just get out the car," he said.

Brown said he pulled up to the driveway and stopped to talk to a friend when another car pulled in and blocked him.

"He got out with a machine gun and he pointed it into my windshield and he told me to get out the car," he said.

Brown said he was pulled out of the car and dropped his phone in the process. The carjackers took his phone and drove off in his blue 2012 Dodge Challenger with Georgia plates.

Brown says deputies tried to use his phone’s GPS but couldn’t track the car as the thieves likely turned the phone off. As deputies search for the suspects in the stolen vehicle, he’s asking the community to keep an eye out for his beloved car.

“If they see it, call somebody," he said.

Brown hoping his car will turn up as he was supposed to drive back to Atlanta on Thursday.

There is no official description of the suspects at this time.

Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
