Suspect Arrested After Punching, Pistol-Whipping Man in Brawl Caught on Camera

A man was arrested after surveillance cameras captured him repeatedly punching and hitting another man with a pistol in a Davie convenience store.

Roberto Gonzalez, 28, of Davie, was arrested Sunday on multiple charges including aggravated battery, aggravated assault and carrying a concealed firearm, according to the Davie Police Department.

The incident happened at the A-Z Food Store at 13080 SR 84, according to Davie police.

A man is seen on video about the leave the store when suddenly two men, including Gonzalez, bust through the door and start punching him repeatedly.

Gonzalez takes his pistol and starts striking the victim's head with it. Another man, who was with Gonzalez, also starts punching the victim, and a woman tries to intervene.

Pictures from Davie police show the victim's bloody head. Authorities say the suspect and the victim have had problems in the past.

Gonzalez flees after the fight but was later found hiding in a nearby bar.

He's been arrested multiple times before, including on an aggravated assault with a firearm charge back in July.
