Months after an infant was found floating in the ocean near the Boynton Beach Inlet, the baby's death has been ruled a homicide as authorities are still trying to identify her.
At a news conference Monday, Palm Beach Sheriff's Office Capt. Steve Strivelli said detectives are now investigating the killing of the infant known as "Baby June" as a homicide.
Strivelli said so far, the department has only received 16 tips in the case.
"None of those tips have led to anything for us in this case and we are still desperate for anything we can get from the public," Strivelli said.
Baby June was between four and seven days old when her body was found floating between 75 and 100 feet off the inlet on June 1. An off-duty firefighter was boating near the inlet when he made the discovery.
Officials said it's possible the baby drifted north from Broward County.
Strivelli said testing was done to determine the child's ethnicity and she was determined to be 50 percent Central Asian and 50 percent African. There were no known relatives in the database, Strivelli said.

There was evidence that the child was born in a hospital or medical facility, Strivelli said.
A $10,000 reward has been offered for information in the case.
