Deputies Search for Hit and Run Driver in Pompano Beach

Investigators are looking for the driver responsible in a hit and run crash that injured a motorcyclist in Pompano Beach on Christmas Eve.

Witnesses told Broward Sheriff's deputies the motorcyclist was struck from behind while at a traffic light going southbound on North Federal Highway around 8:30 p.m.

"A pick-up truck is approaching as the light turns green and just completely plows right over this motorcyclist and keeps driving," said BSO public information officer Keyla Concepcion. "Unbelievable to think someone might do something like this."

The 43-year-old victim was transported to Broward Health North with severe injuries.

The Broward Sheriff's Office set up a perimeter to look for the driver, to no avail. Deputies are looking for a 2003 to 2006 black or dark blue Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck with a partial tag of IB7 or 1B7. It also has the word “Chevrolet” in white letters on the tailgate.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $3,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
