Deputy Smuggled Cheeseburger, Viagra to Inmate

Female detention center deputy faces 35 years in prison

Another South Florida deputy is being accused of making jail a more friendly place for inmates.

Dawn Kramer, 40, was arrested Monday and charged with introducing contraband into a penal facility for allegedly delivering Viagra and cigarettes to a Palm Beach County Jail inmate, authorities said.

She is also charged with dealing in stolen property for buying two stolen credit cards in a sting set up by an undercover deputy, the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office said.

The arrest comes a few months after the Broward Sheriff's Office also cracked down on jail deputies and other corrections personnel who were also accused of smuggling goods to inmates.

That investigation ended with seven arrests.

Kramer, who has been a deputy for two years, allegedly delivered coffee, cigarettes and five Viagra pills to the unnamed inmate, an arrest report stated. She also once brought the inmate a double cheeseburger and fries, the report stated.

A confidential informant alerted authorities of Kramer's dealings, detectives said.

Kramer was released on her own recognizance. It was unclear if she had an attorney.
