Miami Dolphins' Dion Jordan Suspended for 2015 Season

Dion Jordan has been suspended for the entire 2015 season by the NFL

Miami Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan was suspended for the entire 2015 season due to a violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy..

This is Jordan's third strike which means a season-long suspension. Jordan did not fail a drug test but the league found one of the samples to be diluted. That is enough to violate league policy. Jordan will not appeal the suspension.

“We were disappointed to learn about Dion Jordan’s most recent suspension for violating the NFL’s Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse. A player’s health and well-being are of the utmost importance to us. We have made every effort to support Dion, both on and off the field and we will continue to do so to the extent allowable under NFL guidelines," the Dolphins said in a statement.

Twice in 2014, Jordan found himself in violation of the substance abuse policy. Due to these transgressions, Jordan missed six games last year. The first suspension came in July while the other was in September. Originally the DE was suspended for the first four weeks of the year, but that became a total of six after the second violation.

Recently, Jordan has been a subject of trade rumors. This was due not only to his off-field issues, but a lack of production while playing. Jordan was Miami's first round pick in 2013 and failed to live up to the hype. When the Dolphins selected Jordan third overall, they figured they were adding a game-changer on defense.

At only 25, Jordan still has time to turn his career around when he returns following the suspension. It remains to be seen however if Miami would have any interest in his services at that point.

The Dolphins have enjoyed a busy and mostly positive off-season. With free-agent signings and trades, Miami has reshaped its roster ahead of next season.
