Dog Euthanized After Biting Child in Allapattah

The owner of a dog that bit a child Wednesday in the neighborhood of Allapattah turned in the animal so that it could be euthanized.

The Miami Police Department said the young girl was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital and was listed in stable condition. The dog also bit the girl's mother. Both were later discharged from the hospital.

That owner told NBC 6's Andrea Cruz that it is the second time the dog had bitten a stranger - and while he is sad, he told Cruz that as the father of three kids under the age of 10, he knew it was the right thing to do.

The owner of Bruno, a 3-year-old bull terrier mix, said his family is devastated.

"I don’t know why he would do that to a child. He lives here with all our kids and he’s great with our kids and very loving," the owner said. "He was a great dog and my kids loved him a lot. It’s gonna tough for us for the next few weeks, missing and stuff but the most important thing I just hope that the child is OK."
