Dolphins Begin Season With Loss in Seattle

The Dolphins fell to the Seahawks by a final of 12-10 on Sunday to begin the season

The Miami Dolphins started the season with a 12-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Down by three with roughly four minute to play, Ryan Tannehill ran the ball into the end zone on a draw play. Tannehill's two-yard run put Miami ahead by four. Seattle would however score a touchdown of their own on the next possession. That drive ended with 31 seconds to play and with no timeouts remaining for Miami. Seattle would miss the extra point, but that ended up not being a factor.

The first half was a low-scoring affair with the two teams combining for only nine points. Three field goals were converted and Seattle had two of those. During the first half, Isa Abdul-Quddus had an interception which helped avoid a possible Seattle touchdown.

Miami had a TD opportunity of its own during the first half, but Kenny Stills was unable to catch a long pass from Tannehill. Replays showed Stills had the ball touch his hands and would have had an easy score. Stills would end up with one reception on the day.

The Dolphins had a chance to reach the end zone early in the fourth quarter. Miami was unable to convert however and instead tried to tie the game on a field goal. That attempt would end up blocked and the Dolphins remained three behind with under 11 minutes to play.

Without starting center Mike Pouncey available, the Dolphins and Tannehill were working with a depleted offensive line. Pouncey is out of action due to a hip injury and Tannehill ended up sacked three times in the game. Miami's quarterback was hit eight times and rushed on numerous other plays.

Tannehill ended up throwing for 186 yards during a 16-29 day. With no touchdowns in the air or interceptions, Tannehill ended up with a QB rating of 77.4 for the game.

In his first game as the starting running back, Arian Foster rushed for 38 yards on 13 carries. Damien Williams added nine yards of his own.

The Dolphins will travel to New England next Sunday for a game against the Patriots.
