Dolphins Could Move Mike Wallace: Report

The Dolphins are reportedly looking into trading wide reciever Mike Wallace

The Miami Dolphins are exploring trade scenarios for wide receiver Mike Wallace, according to a report from NFL.com.

Wallace signed a five-year contract with Miami in 2013 and the deal still has three seasons remaining on it. Should Wallace remain in Miami, he would earn $9.85 million next season. Cutting the wide receiver could be an option for the Dolphins as well.

After signing the large contract with the Dolphins, Wallace has been a disappointment which could be due in part to a lack of chemistry with Ryan Tannehill. The quarterback and receiver have not been on the same page often and a change in scenery could revitalize Wallace's career.

In addition to a lack of production, Wallace has been a problem at times in the locker room. In the final game of the year, Wallace requested to sit due to a lack of balls thrown in his direction. This does not sit well with the coaching staff or his teammates.

Wallace's ten touchdown receptions in 2014 led all receivers for Miami. The team would need to try and find a way to replace Wallace should they find a taker for his contract. One name that could see increased opportunities is Jarvis Landry who enjoyed a fine rookie campaign.

Ideally Miami may look to add a wide receiver with a larger skill set. Wallace did a decent job on deep routes but was not as versatile as some of the game's best receivers. For the Dolphins to end their playoff drought, it is imperative that the team gives Tannehill the best opportunity to succeed.

The Dolphins will kick the 2015 season off on Sunday, September 13th.
