Dolphins Drop Preseason Game to Cowboys

The Dolphins were beaten by the Dallas Cowboys on Friday in their second preseason game

The Miami Dolphins fell behind early and never recovered in their 41-14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Friday.

After only playing two drives in the first game of the preseason, Ryan Tannehill was behind center for nearly the entire first half in this one. Tannehill performed well after having a pair of three-and-outs last week. It was an important outing for Tannehill as he looks to find a rhythm with his offense and the new coaching staff.

Overall Tannehill ended up going 12-20 for 162 yards. The quarterback completed two touchdown passes with one coming towards the end of the first half. Tannehill's QB rating for the day was a robust 119.2.

Kenny Stills was the main beneficiary of Tannehill's big half. The wide receiver caught three passes for 71 yards and was on the receiving end of both touchdown passes. Stills' 71 yards also led the team in terms of receiving yards on the day.

In his first game action with Miami, Arian Foster had a forgettable outing. After missing last week's game, Foster carried the ball twice in this game for a grand toal of negative five yards. Jay Ajayi had six carries for 19 yards as he continues to battle Foster for the starting gig at the running back position.

The story was not as good for Miami's first-team defense. After having its headliners sit out last week's game, Miami saw little production from the defense in this one. The starting defense ended up allowing 14 points on 188 yards of offense in an ugly outing.

Miami will next host the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday. The game will be considered a home game for the Dolphins, but will be played in Orlando.
