Dolphins Grab First Win of Preseason

The Dolphins beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday and are now 1-1 in the preseason

The Miami Dolphins topped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-14 on Saturday to pick up their first victory of the preseason.

Ryan Tannehill played the entire first quarter and did a fine job going 9-14 on pass attempts for 110 yards. Tannehill did lose a fumble along the way. The Dolphins' starting QB has 88.4 passer rating for the day.

After Tannehill's day came to an end, Matt Moore entered. The incumbent backup remains in the lead to keep that role and Saturday's showing will only help that cause. Moore was 13-19 for 158 yards and also threw a touchdown pass. The passer rating for Moore was 11.3.

Lastly, Brady Quinn took some snaps as he tries to hold onto hope of snatching the backup job. Quinn would likely only get the role if Moore suffers an injury at this juncture. The former first rounder was 4-4 for 22 yards.

Damien Williams notched a rushing touchdown as part of a 20-yard day on 11 carries. Williams also caught three passes for an additional 46 yards of offense.

The receiver on the other end of Moore's touchdown pass was Rishard Matthews. The 24-year old caught three passes for 43 yards to continue a productive preseason. In last week's game at Atlanta, Matthews caught a pair of passes for 40 yards.

John Potter was 2-2 on his field goal attempts with the longest coming from 51 yards.

Defensively, Miami had five sacks in the game with one each coming from Olivier Vernon, Kamal Johnson, Dion Jordan, Terrence Fede and Jared Odrick.

The Dolphins will take on the Dallas Cowboys next Saturday at Sun Life Stadium in their penultimate preseason game.
