Dolphins Lose Game and Albert

The Lions scored a touchdown with 29 seconds to go to beat Miami 20-16 on Sunday

The Miami Dolphins lost 20-16 on Sunday when the Detroit Lions scored a late touchdown and also lost Branden Albert with a knee injury.

Albert was carted off the field in the second quarter and was in obvious pain, The 30-year old is in the first season of a 5-year deal he signed with Miami this past off-season, Albert appeared to injure his right knee on the play and any time he misses would be problematic for the Dolphins. The tackle is considered one of the best in the league and is a big reason for the improved Miami offense this season,

Trailing 10-0, the Dolphins began a comeback try with a field goal in the second quarter. Miami would add ten more points in the third quarter as part of 13 unanswered points. Detroit would tie the game at 13 before Miami added a go-ahead field goal with less than five minutes left in regulation.

After a punt for each team, Detroit put together the game-winning drive that culminated in a TD with only 29 seconds left in the game. The loss was reminiscent of a win by the Green Bay Packers over the Dolphins earlier in the season, That game also seemed in hand before a late TD sent Miami reeling.

A highlight in the game came when Brent Grimes made a leaping catch for an interception. The pick was the fifth of the year for Grimes. It was the only turnover on the day for Detroit as opposed to Miami with its two turnovers.

Ryan Tannehill was 26-37 for 215 yards with one TD and one interception. The quarterback did a mostly solid job against a tough Detroit defense. The touchdown pass was brought in by Mike Wallace who tallied 51 receiving yards in the game.

The Dolphins will return home and take on the Buffalo Bills on Thursday at 8:25 p.m.
