Dolphins' Moore Has Mixed Results in Scrimmage

Matt Moore was picked off and also found the end zone during Saturday's intrasquad scrimmage

Miami Dolphins quarterback Matt Moore completed a touchdown pass and was picked off during Saturday's intrasquad scrimmage.

The annual scrimmage was held at Hard Rock Stadium and it was Moore's first chance to shine as Miami's starting quarterback. Without an outside option as of yet to replace Ryan Tannehill, Moore is the de facto starter for the Dolphins.

Moore was only on the field with the first-team offense for two drives, but he managed to have one highlight and one low moment in that brief period of time.

Prior to the touchdown pass, Moore completed a 22-yard throw to Jarvis Landry. It was considered a difficult play and Landry went out of bounds at the 1-yard line. On the very next play, Landry caught another pass from Moore for the score.

The interception was brought in by Xavien Howard who promptly returned it for a TD of his own. Moore was trying to find DeVante Parker with the ill-advised pass attempt. If Moore remains Miami's starter, he should be targeting Parker often this coming season.

Moore should be behind center for Miami's first exhibition game. With the regular season now just weeks away, the Dolphins will need to make a QB decision quick. Outside options are being considered, with Tannehill expected to miss significant time due to a knee injury. Miami has been linked to quarterbacks such as Jay Cutler in various reports, but has thus far pointed to Moore as the new signal-caller.

The Dolphins will begin the exhibition schedule on Thursday against the Atlanta Falcons.
