Don Shula Comments on Patriots Deflating Scandal

Legendary Dolphins coach Don Shula made a brief comment on "DeflateGate" on Saturday

Don Shula made headlines on Saturday when the legendary Miami Dolphins coach spoke out on the ongoing "DeflateGate" controversy.

The comments from Shula were brief but carried a strong message. The coach was attending Miami's 50th season celebration as a guest of honor. This was also not the first time that Shula had been outspoken when it comes to the Patriots.

"Our record in those 50 years was always done with a lot of class, a lot of dignity, a lot of doing it the right way. We didn't deflate any balls," Shula stated at the celebration.

The Patriots have more important things to worry about than Shula's comments and an official response is unlikely. New England faces the prospects of a suspension for star quarterback, Tom Brady. It has been reported that Brady will face discipline within a week. The QB could miss multiple weeks during the 2015 season due to the penalty.

When pressed by the media to expand on his comment, Shula rejected the notion.

"I coached for 33 years and I've never once in that 33-year period of time ever even talked or heard anyone talk about the air in the football. So I'm not going to start talking about the air in the football," Shula added.

In the past, Shula has referred to Patriots' head coach Bill Belichick by the nickname "Beli-cheat". This nickname is a reference to the infamous "SpyGate" scandal that New England was penalized for in 2007.
