Doral Doctor Hit Security Guard With Car Twice: Cops

Dr. Kenneth Strubbe, 52, was arrested Thursday on two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon

A Doral doctor is facing battery charges after police say he was caught on camera hitting a security guard twice with his car at an entrance gate to his neighborhood.

Dr. Kenneth Strubbe, 52, was arrested Thursday on two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to an arrest report.

According to the report, the 18-year-old security guard, who works for the Doral Isles community, was working at the entrance in the 7200 block of Northwest 114th Avenue on May 24 when the incident happened.

Strubbe, who was driving his white Lexus, was trying to tailgate behind an SUV into the community when the guard tried to slow the vehicle with hand signals and verbal commands, the report said.

A surveillance camera showed Strubbe hit the guard in the legs with the car once and then a second time, the report said.

"He hit me the first time and then he stopped, came back through and then hit me again. I, on the second one, I lost my balance and I had to get out of the way because I was scared that he would run me over and kill me," said Mason Rue, the victim.

The morning of the incident Strubbe had been emailing property management complaining about security at the access gates, saying it was like "having to go through a TSA zone," the report said.

After the incident, Strubbe emailed management again.

"Once the guard knows you, they should not jump into your car, since they know and have the intelligence to let you go. I have a very unique car, and the only one of it's kind in the community, but I understand as well there are different levels of education and intelligence," the email read, according to the report.

"When the resident sent an email to my bosses saying I should be fired for not knowing his car and for being too incompetent to let him through, my bosses went in and reviewed the footage and contacted the police and brought them in," said Rue.

Strubbe was booked into jail and later released on bond. Attorney information wasn't available.

Strubbe is an obstetrician-gynecologist with his main office in Hialeah, records showed.

"My son was just trying to do his job. He doesn't get paid enough to be hit by cars. The guy is a doctor and there's no excuse. When he becomes a doctor, he takes an oath and he hits somebody with his car and then he just drives off," said Amanda Andujar, the victim's mother. "That's not okay."
