Downtown Construction Projects To Begin In Miami

The Florida Department of Transportation is kicking off two construction projects in downtown Miami that will impact traffic in the area, the department said Tuesday.

One of the construction projects will take place in the area of SW 2nd Avenue from SE 2nd Street to SE 4th St. The other will take place along Biscayne Boulevard from SE 3rd Avenue to north of SE 2nd Street. The department said both projects will take approximately one year to complete and will occur at the same time.

The I-95 exit and entrance ramps on SE 2nd Avenue will remain open. Commuters can expect to see construction work daily, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Lane closures are to be expected, although the department said at least one lane will remain open throughout the duration of the projects.

Alternative routes include Flagler Street to North Miami Avenue to get on the I-95. This route can also be used to gain access to the Brickell Area. Commuters can also use NE 1st St. to North Miami Avenue or Flagler Street to SW 2nd Avenue.

Drivers can also take Biscayne Boulevard north to get on I-95, go north on NE 1st Avenue or go west on NE 3rd St. to NW 3rd Ave.
