Driver, 1 Dog Dead in Car Crash

Authorities said a man and a dog were killed in a car crash on Friday night where the vehicle hit a power pole.

Initially, Plantation Fire Rescue said the 44-year-old man and two dogs were electrocuted when the car got into an accident, hit a Florida Power & Light Pole and the power lines.

Later in the night, it wasn't clear how the man and dog were killed. There were two other dogs in the car that survived the crash.

Police said the man was going north on University Drive and jumped the median, slamming into the utility pole on the other side of the street. This knocked out power to the area.

Police said they were investigating as there were no skid marks that showed the man tried to break.
