A driver who caused a rollover crash in a reportedly stolen minivan while trying to flee police in northwest Miami-Dade Tuesday was hospitalized, officials said.
Miami-Dade Police officials said an officer saw the vehicle disobey a traffic signal and attempted to stop it but the driver sped off and lost control in the area of 53rd Street and Northwest 17th Avenue.
The driver tried to flee on foot after the crash but was taken into custody. He was taken to a local hospital, where his condition was unknown. His identity and the exact charges he'll face were also unknown.
Surveillance footage showed the van speeding through an intersection and colliding with another car before continuing on. It's also seen crashing into a post or pole.
Police said the van was possibly stolen.
