Rescue crews worked to free a driver who wrapped their car around a tree during a crash on the Florida's Turnpike in Miami-Dade Wednesday.

The crash happened in the northbound lanes of the Turnpike near Eureka Drive.

Florida Highway Patrol officials said the car went off the road and hit a tree, trapping the person inside. It took fire rescue crews nearly an hour to free the person from the wreckage, and they were taken to a nearby hospital with what appear to be non-life threatening injuries, officials said.

The cause of the crash was unknown.
