Driver Sought After Pedestrian Killed in Miami-Dade Hit-and-Run

Authorities are hoping for the public's help in finding a driver who fled the scene after hitting and killing a pedestrian in northwest Miami-Dade.

Miami-Dade Police said 35-year-old Carlos Gilberto Garcia Chacon was struck by an unknown vehicle in the southbound lane of the 300 block of Northwest 109th Avenue around 5:15 a.m. on Sept. 30.

Fire rescue responded to the scene where Garcia Chacon was pronounced dead. The vehicle fled the scene.

Police said there are no photos or surveillance of the incident, and they're trying to find the vehicle and identify the driver. Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
