Police are searching for a driver who left another person critically injured during a road rage incident in Aventura.

The incident happened the afternoon of Jan. 14 in the area of Northeast 182nd Street and Biscayne Boulevard, police said.

Officials said a car hit the victim and fled the scene southbound on Biscayne Boulevard. The victim, identified as 23-year-old Ran Gabay, was left critically injured.

Gabay had been on the way to the beach with his girlfriend and friend.

Police said the car may be a faded gold 2005 or 2006 Ford Focus with damage to the right front passenger side. Surveillance cameras captured photos of the car.

The car was later found thanks to a Crime Stoppers tip, and police were speaking with a person of interest, officials said.

Witnesses described the driver as an older white male, heavy set, with grey hair, who was wearing sunglasses with yellow lenses.

Anyone with information is asked to call Aventura Police at 305-466-8989.
