Drivers Beware of Fake Toll Enforcement Scam

Officials are asking drivers to be wary of a new scam involving toll enforcement.

Officials are warning drivers to be wary of a fraudulent toll collection scam.

A company calling itself "TOLL ENFORCEMENT LLC" has been sending out letters that say "Final Notice Warning" and ask drivers to immediately pay outstanding tolls plus a fee of $50 with a cashier's check or money order, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

FDOT says it does not do business with any company by the name of "TOLL ENFORCEMENT LLC" and that any toll violations or warnings issued by the department would be printed in official document form and prominently feature the date, time and location of the alleged violations as well as a photo of the vehicle passing through a toll plaza.

Florida Highway Patrol, the Miami-Dade Police Department and other local agencies are investigating.

Anyone who has received one of these fraudulent letters is urged to contact SunPass at 888-865-5352.
