Duke Johnson's 90-Yard Run Propels UM To Easy Win

Duke Johnson had a big day which featured a 90-yard TD run in Miami's 47-20 win

The Miami Hurricanes won for the third straight time on Saturday with their decisive 47-20 win over the North Carolina Tar Heels.

On a day where football great Jim Kelly served as a honorary captain, the Hurricanes did him proud. With the win, UM is now 6-3 this year and 3-2 in the ACC. Kelly who is currently cancer free after battling squamous cell carcinoma is a member of UM's Hall of Fame as well as the NFL Hall of Fame.

Duke Johnson has had a great year and could find himself as a candidate for the Heisman Trophy if he keeps it up. That year continued to be great on Saturday as he rushed for 177 yards on 19 carries. One of those carries was a 90--yard run that resulted in a touchdown. The long run was tied for the best running play in school history which took place in 1955 according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Johnson ran a TD in earlier in the game as well to give him two rushing touchdowns in a game for the first time this year. The running back also picked up a receiving TD for a second straight week as he tallied 49 more yards via the air. It was the eighth straight game that Johnson scored at least one TD with only the first game of the year featuring a scoreless effort.

Brad Kaaya was no slouch in this one either as he was 11-17 for 189 yards himself. The freshman quarterback threw three touchdowns and no interceptions. Kaaya now has 20 TDs this year and this was the third straight game he threw no picks.

Clive Walford caught the other two TD passes from Kaaya. The senior now has six TD receptions this year and three in his last two games. Walford tallied 89 yards in all in the win.

Miami is off next week before a big game against the #2 ranked Florida State Seminoles on November 15th.
