Dwyane Wade Surprises South Florida Family with Early Christmas Delivery

The basketball superstar helped carry in some new furniture at Welline Lubin's new Hollywood apartment

One family got quite a Christmas surprise a few days early.

After losing everything in a fire earlier this month, the family was given a home makeover – and the person delivering the furniture was one of Miami Heat’s Big Three.

Heat superstar Dwyane Wade went to work off the court Friday afternoon spreading Christmas cheer in Hollywood at Welline Lubin’s new apartment.

“I think it’s beautiful,” Lubin said. “I can’t wish for anything else."

Wade helped carry in some new furniture for the home. The Lubins had none. On Dec. 7, a fire destroyed everything in their Hallandale Beach apartment.

“I just went shopping and I lost everything I bought that day,” Lubin said. “I don’t know how to explain it, but I’m thankful.”

Wade’s been doing good things in the community for years, and said that for him it never gets old.

“It’s always different. It’s exciting and fun every time,” Wade said. “I’m blessed and I’m lucky to do it so I hope I can do it for a long time to come.”

Wade said he does things like this to give back, because he can, and to see the difference it makes in people’s lives.

“My teammates and myself have been given so many opportunities and blessings, and it’s only right that we continue to do our job of making sure our community is better,” he said.

Wade has a packed schedule this weekend. He’s taking 10 families shopping at Target on Saturday, and on Sunday, 100 fathers and their kids will spend time with him at Santa’s Enchanted Forest.
