Elderly Man Attacked and Robbed By Two Women in Little Havana Home Invasion

Miami Police looking for two women who attacked and robbed an elderly man inside his apartment

Miami Police are looking for two women who they say attacked and robbed an elderly man in a home invasion in Little Havana Wednesday.

The incident happened just after 3 p.m. when the women knocked on the door of apartment 107 at 901 Southwest 5th Street, police said.

Damasa Vargas, who is in his 80s, opened the door and the two women forced their way in and demanded money. One of the women tussled with Vargas while the other ransacked the apartment.

"The woman pushed me inside, I pushed back, the woman grabbed my pants," Vargas said in Spanish. "I heard one woman say, 'look how much money this old man has.' I just had gotten $400 out yesterday to pay my bills."

The women fled the home on foot with the money. Vargas suffered minor injuries to his right arm and was treated at the scene by Miami Fire Rescue.

Miami Police said the women are in their late 20s to early 30s and one of them goes by the nickname of Mimi. Vargas said he didn't know the women but has seen them before.

"He's frightened since they already know where he lives," Miami Police spokeswoman Kenia Reyes said.
