Elementary School Locked Down on 1st Day By Gas

Cypress Elementary school locked down this morning over gas leak

Usually a little gas at an elementary school is expected on the first day with so many nervous kids running around. But construction workers were the ones responsible for a leak that put Cypress Elementary in lockdown on Monday.

A construction crew hit a gas line near a utility pole a few blocks away from the school, so as a precaution, the school decided to play it safe and keep students inside their classrooms while the issue was resolved.

It took several hours to turn the leak off and students are expected to get out of school on time.

Several interssections that were closed while crews worked to repair the leak are also expected to be re-opened soon.
