Equipment Stolen From Northwest Miami-Dade Church: Bishop

The Missionary Evangelist Baptist Church is located at 1766 NW 95 St.

Officials at a Northwest Miami-Dade church said their place of worship was broken into over the weekend, making it the church's second burglary in the last three months.

Property from the Missionary Evangelist Baptist Church, located at 1766 NW 95 St., was stolen, Bishop Johnny Leekamp told NBC 6 South Florida. He said he was awoken by a church administrator who said the church had been ransacked.

“They tried to do us a disservice, but as far as I’m concerned, they only made us better, they only blessed us, that’s all they did,” Leekamp said.

About $3,000 worth of equipment may have been stolen, including power amplifiers the church needs for its music.

“They really hit us in the heart, but as the scripture says, the lord will provide and we know that already,” Leekamp said.

The bishop said he has an idea as to who the thieves are, but couldn’t name names because “in a court of law, it would never hold up.”

“So we’re kind of in an area here where guys really like to vandalize churches and sell the products,” he said.
