    • Officers responded to a call of a man who broke into a hotel room Wednesday evening in Northeast Miami.

    • Officers later found a bag in his sock that had cocaine residue while the victims identified Dutil as the man who broke in.

The director of a South Florida sports team is behind bars after police say he destroyed an apartment and terrorized residents while possibly under the influence.

Gregory Dutil, who currently serves as the team director of FC Miami City soccer club, was arrested on multiple charges including armed burglary, assault and battery and possession of cocaine. The 37-year-old is being held on no bond based on the burglary charges.

According to a police report, officers responded to a call of a man who broke into a hotel room Wednesday evening in Northeast Miami, allegedly by breaking down the door and spraying a woman inside with a fire extinguisher before leaving.

A security officer at the hotel later found Dutil in another room, setting off the extinguisher while destroying the room. Police were later called and arrested Dutil, who had a silver kitchen knife and a glass of red wine in his hand at the time.

Officers later found a bag in his sock that had cocaine residue while the victims identified Dutil as the man who broke in. He was later taken in for processing, where he told officers that he didn’t remember anything up to that point and possibly had been drugged at dinner the night before.

Dutil spent his soccer playing career with teams in both Spain and his native France.

FC Miami City released a statement Thursday evening:

"FC Miami City was shocked to learn from news media today that Gregory Dutil was arrested for allegedly committing several crimes earlier in the week. FC Miami City has not been in contact with Mr. Dutil, and had no knowledge of the circumstances leading to his arrest. The Club has provisionally suspended Mr. Dutil pending a determination of the relevant facts. The Club holds its players, coaches, and staff to a high standard of conduct, on and off the field and the allegations, if true, clearly violate the Club's zero-tolerance approach to misconduct, including criminal activity and drug use."
