FPL Gets Ready For Hurricane Season With New Technology

Hurricane season does not officially begin until June, but officials with Florida Power and Light are already busy preparing for the next big storm.

It's been 10 years since Hurricane Wilma devastated South Florida.

Since then, FPL has implemented many upgrades and improvements that will help streamline the process of reporting problems and restoring power to customers in the event of a large-scale storm.

In years past, patrollers went out with a clipboard, physically bringing written information back to headquarters where it was manually entered.

Now, mobile command centers will allow patrollers to make assesments instantly on their tablets and upload that information instantly and quickly address problems.
